BIOGRAPHY
“The road uphill is harder than the one down, but the view is worth it from the top. Never give up.”
Tan Choon Hong is a creative consultant running his own practice and an online store. His first brush with art was in primary school when his teacher drew a village on the black board with triangles and squares. Art would then become his passion and was also a heaven-sent of a school subject as he didn't have to put much work at it.
Leaving school put Choon Hong at the proverbial fork in the road where one leads to the fine arts and a life as a starving artist; One of which promised instant gratification. At that point, he believed that all he needed to do was to win the hearts and minds of others while using art as a tool for his products and services. During that time, Choon Hong became an adman, and was fortunate to cut his teeth in a leading local ad agency which exposed him to some high profile brands. He then got his big break at an international agency which can be said to be his “finishing school” where he learned to do things the Madison Avenue way. Eventually, Choon Hong had enough confidence to start his own creative hotshop and that's where he is of now.
Outside his day job, he do cartoons on websites as a sort of social commentary and activism. Recently after years of trials and tribulations Choon Hong finished and published his graphic novel "Nanyang A Graphic Novel by Tan Choon Hong". His book is accessible from the reference section of the National Library, main branch.
